The stand informed students of the newly opened Centre’s facilities and location which is ideal for those living in the surrounding area.

A Wii-Fit was the student friendly device used to draw in the crowds at the event which provided entertainment for all whilst retaining an emphasis on health. The centre is ideal for the large number of Bournemouth University students living in the Boscombe and Springbourne area as it is located a short walk from the Boscombe Bus Station and is open from 8am ‘til 8pm 365 days a year.

The centre is 1 of 152 new GP health centres opening across England to provide a free and flexible service to the local community. Students were especially interested by the walk-in appointments provided where the centre can also welcome non-registered patients.

In total, 1,000 leaflets were handed out at the event alongside business cards to promote the services and extended opening hours that the centre supplies.
To ensure that the students had up-to-date information about the centre, they were also encouraged to join the Boscombe and Springbourne Health Centre’s Fan Page via the social networking site Facebook.

Practice Manager, Chris Hughes expressed his delight at the success of the event ‘The freshers fair was a fantastic way to introduce the Centre to the students in Bournemouth and the local area. We provide a different service to many other health centres with extended opening hours every single day of the year which is very useful for students. They seemed really interested in the centre especially given that they don’t have to be registered.’
